Requesting to make something happen/be in a certain way:
1. You are in a hair salon:
You don't like your hair to be too short. You would tell the hair stylist:
Hair stylist: 어떻게 해 드릴까요?
The customer: 너무 짧지 않게 해 주세요/조금 길게 해 주세요.
You don't like your back hair to be too long and like to have your bangs look natural. You would tell the hair stylist:
어떻게 해 드릴까요?
The customer: 뒷머리가 길지 않게, 그리고 자연스럽게 해 주세요.
You want your front hair to be short, and side hair long:
Hair stylist: 어떻게 해 드릴까요?
The customer: 앞머리는 짧게, 옆 머리는 길게 해 주세요.
2. You are ordering육계장 in a Korean restaurant:
You don't like your food to be too spicy. You would tell the waiter/waitress: 맵지 않게/안 맵게 해 주세요
You don't like your food to taste too salty. You would tell the waiter/waitress: 짜지 않게/싱겁게 해 주세요.

Change of situation: ~게 하다 vs. ~게 되다
~게 하다 to put something or someone in a certain situation, either having someone do something or putting something in some state of affairs. ~게 되다 to be put into a situation (by other force, not from my own will) Sam's는 값이 싸요. 그래서 Sam's에 가면 사고 싶은 게 많아서 많이 사게 돼요.
그런데 제 아내는 내가 사고 싶은 걸 못 사게 해요.
