샌디: [I went to Korea to study Korean] 한국어 배우러 한국에 갔었어요.

(1) A: 방학 때 뭐 했어요?
  B: [I went to Chicago to see a friend] 친구 만나러 시카고에 갔었어요.
(2) A: [Did you go to the Korean Night last year?] 작년에 Korean Night에 갔었어요?
  B: 아니요, 바빠서 못 갔어요/아니요, 바빠서 못 갔었어요. 올해는 꼭 갈 거예요.
(3) A: 요즘 야구장에 자주 가세요?
  B: [No. I used to go [to the baseball stadium] often before, but now I haven't been able to go recently (not a single time)]. 전에는 자주 갔었는데, 요즘은 못 갔어요.
(4) A: 저 사람 왜 그렇게 노래를 못 불러요?
  B: [He used to sing well before ... (I don't know why not now)] 전에는 잘 했었는데 . . .
(5) A: 지금 밖에 날씨가 어때요?
  B: [Oh, it was windy a while ago, but now it is all right] 아까는 바람이 불었었는데, 지금은 괜찮네요.
