Deductive Reasoning (cf. Inductive reasoning, abductive reasoning)

General Law/Norm: A ----> B	Human beings -------> They die

Based on our normal expectation, and given a situation, make a conjectural conclusion on a state of affair to be.

1.	점심을 못 먹었어요.	=> You must be hungry/배 고프겠어요.
2.	어제 잠을 2시간밖에 못 잤어요.	=> You must be sleepy/졸리겠어요.
3.	어제 10시간 공부했어요.	=> You must be tired/피곤하겠어요.
4.	어제 한국어 midterm 시험 (중간고사)에서 A를 받았어요.	=> You must feel good/기분이 좋겠어요.
5.	이번 봄방학에 하와이에 갈 거예요.	=> You must feel good [I envy you]/좋겠어요. => You must be excited/신나겠어요.
6.	이번 학기에 6과목 들어요.	=> It must be taxing/힘들겠어요. => It must be hectic [You must be out of sync]/정신없겠어요.

 

The conjectured situation can be in all time frame (past, present, future).

1.	어제 시험이 4개나 있었어요.	=> 힘들었겠어요 (It must have been taxing).
2	어제 한국어 시험이 있어서 10시간 공부했어요.	피곤하다 (feel tired) 졸리다 (feel drowsy) 힘들다 (feel taxing, suffer difficulty) 신나다 (feel elated, feel on the top of the world) 정신없다 (feel being out of mind) 갑갑하다 (feel stuffy) 심심하다 (feel bored) 시원하다 (be refreshing) 배고프다 (feel hungry) => 피곤했겠어요 (You must have been tired).
3.	다음 학기에 6과목 들을 거예요.	=> 힘들겠네요 (It's going to be taxing [I figure]).
4.	이번 주말에 IU Wittenburg Auditorium에서 한국영화를 해요.	=> 재미있겠네요 (It should be going to be entertaining).
